Delhi Legislative Assembly Suggested Free Education To EWS And DG Students Up To Class 12 Know Details

Delhi Private Schools To Give Free Education: In Delhi’s private schools, the issue of providing free education till class 12 to EWS and DG category students has been raised. This recommendation has been raised by the Delhi Legislative Assembly Committee under SC/ST Welfare. The committee says that students belonging to Economically Weaker Section i.e. EWS and DG i.e. Disadvantage category should get the right to free education till 12th standard. Please tell that under the Right to Education i.e. RTE Act, at present, students from 6 to 14 years of age in private schools of Delhi get free education.

Facility is available only till this class

Under RTE, Delhi’s private schools currently provide free education to these students till class 8th. The committee has said in its recommendation that there is a need to extend this facility till 12th because many times the education of many children stops after 8th due to poor economic conditions.

Please tell that private schools in Delhi have to take 25 percent admission from EWS quota. The school cannot charge any kind of fees from these students. However, this facility is available only till the age of 14 years or class 8th.

what will change after the proposal

If this proposal is passed, then some percent of the students of this category in the private schools of Delhi will get a chance to complete their schooling. With this, their schooling will not remain incomplete and they can go ahead and do higher studies and make a good career. That’s why the SC/ST Welfare Committee has recommended that the facility of free education in private schools of Delhi should be extended till class 12th.

Economic pressure may fall

The committee also said that this may increase the financial burden, but considering its long term benefits in the society, it is an important investment which must be done. The committee has recommended to the GNCTD Education Department that this should be considered and this rule should also be implemented. Please tell that even now many schools are providing this facility. These are the schools which have got the school land from the government agency and they are already giving free education to their students up to 12th standard.
